The Hollistic Approach - Mineral building in transition. Conversion of existing buildings and careful renovation of listed exposed concrete surfaces with mineral (color) systems

Mineral construction with concrete is subject to constant change. Recently in particular, the pressure on the concrete industry has increased enormously due to the poor CO2 balance of concrete. In addition, there are rapidly changing usage concepts for inner-city areas that require new solutions for existing properties. The order of the day is therefore: conversion, refurbishment, restoration and preservation instead of demolition and replacement construction. This applies all the more to listed buildings.

The requirements for the selection of materials, their compatibility with the original building material and their ecological certification are very strict and, in addition to DGNB certifications and cradle-to-cradle concepts, are now also subject to a holistic concept, the Hollistic Approach.

Betonretusche GmbH will present its work on (historical) exposed concrete surfaces using selected project examples. It will be explained how the minimally invasive use of the mineral KEIM Concretal system can be used positively for the preservation of original substance and the renovation of existing buildings.
