Handcrafted production of historical flat glass for monument protection

1:00 PM - 1:30 PM Thu 07. Nov

Short description

Congress Center Leipzig (CCL), multi-purpose area 4

Description

At the Lamberts glassworks , one of the world's last production facilities for traditionally handcrafted flat glass, the protection of historical monuments is a central aspect of the company's philosophy.
The focus is on flat glass that has been further developed on the basis of historical manufacturing processes and adapted to the needs of the present day.
This is one of the reasons why the method of producing hand-blown flat glass was included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.

The lecture will explain how the glasses are made and their many uses.
