“Climate adaptation in cultural institutions - options for action in the implementation of climate adaptation measures in listed properties”

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM Fri 08. Nov

Short description

The cultural sector is increasingly affected by extreme weather events and climate change. How can cultural institutions, such as museums, theaters and libraries, deal with these challenges?

Description

A pilot project funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation was launched in April 2024 to address this issue. The workshop will begin by presenting the project and selected climate risks that were identified as particularly critical for the 20 cultural institutions surveyed across Germany. The event will focus on a discussion format involving the workshop participants. This will address specific problems, such as avoiding overheating in listed buildings in summer. This will be followed by an exchange on suitable procedures for taking into account the interests of listed buildings in necessary adaptation measures.

The event is aimed in particular at employees of the monument protection authorities and the relevant specialist departments in the ministries.
