East Modern City.Views Leipzig, an architecture exhibition by HTWK Leipzig, is a guest of the City of Leipzig, Department of Monument Preservation, at denkmal 2024, the leading European trade fair for monument preservation, restoration and renovation. Juxtapositions of postcards from the 1960s to 1980s and photographs from 2024 (re)present places, spaces and architecture and document situations that no longer exist in some cases. The works from Annette Menting's seminar were dedicated to exemplary places and follow on from the Instagram project “karten.der.moderne” by Louis Volkmann; a selection is shown in the exhibition designed by Lurette Seyde. Which living environments have been created, transformed or partially disappeared again? Answers will be provided by exhibition events: “Photography as a narrative memory practice” with Louis Volkmann and “Value production in monument preservation, city, architecture” with Sigrid Brandt, art historian.
