Responsible for the survey protection and research of immovable cultural relics, painted sculptures, and fresco throughout the province. Formulating standards and norms for the protection and utilization, undertaking the protection planning and survey and design work for cultural heritage units. Conducting research on traditional crafts, technologies, materials, and pathologies, as well as digital preservation and preventive conservation of  cultural relics. 
Shanxi Museum
The Shanxi Museum, formerly known as the Education Library and Museum of Shanxi established in 1919.As the largest public cultural institution in Shanxi Province, it focuses on collecting, preserving, protecting, researching, and displaying cultural relics. The museum’s core mission is to inherit Chinese civilization and safeguard the history and culture of Shanxi.
