Description

Panel heating and clay are the ideal combination when it comes to extending, refurbishing and renovating old buildings and monuments, as they ensure an ideal indoor climate and safety for the building fabric. Resource-saving and environmentally friendly construction methods are becoming increasingly important, especially in this day and age. The energy transition also includes the heating transition. As a contribution to climate protection, flow temperatures for heating systems must be reduced, which is very well possible in conjunction with panel heating. Electric panel heating systems that can be combined with photovoltaics can also be used.

WEM panel heating systems mainly generate infrared or radiant heat. This type of heat offers a high degree of safety and protection for historical building fabric through the temperature control of the surfaces, as well as a significant increase in living comfort. The combination with renewable energies and the low flow temperatures, as well as the simultaneous installation of interior insulation, saves a considerable amount of energy.

The wide range of drywall systems made of clay for ceilings for heating and cooling, for walls in drywall construction or for plastering, as well as various drywall systems for underfloor heating , means that there is a suitable solution for almost every application in old buildings and listed buildings.

In his lecture, Gerd Meurer presents various options for installing panel heating on walls, ceilings and floors, their mode of operation and important planning details. Several examples of energy-efficient refurbishment using natural building materials will also be presented.
