In this presentation, partners from preparatory internships and studies will provide an insight into the opportunities and skills that prospective conservators can acquire at various internship and study locations in German-speaking countries.
In addition, the VDR will present a new funding opportunity for students of conservation-restoration, which will be available at the 6 university locations in Germany from fall 2024.

11:30 a.m. The Altenburg practical year for art and monument restoration
With Prof. Dr. Arnulf Dähne, pons asini PartG, certified conservator for the conservation and restoration of wall paintings and architectural coloration
and Uwe Strömsdörfer, Residenzschloss Altenburg, museum director, graduate conservator for archaeological cultural assets and historical materials

12:00 p.m. The Hamburg practical year of restoration - a very special experience

12:30 p.m Restoration - a contribution to building culture

01:00 p.m. The restoration course at the ABK Stuttgart (working title)
With Prof. Dr. Nadja Wallaszkovits, Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, Professor of Conservation and Restoration of New Media and Digital Information

In addition to the lecture series, information about studying in German-speaking countries will be available near the stage. After the lectures, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and talk to the lecturers.

Prospective students are also invited to visit stand H2 M31 on the two previous days of the fair. On Thursday and Friday, students from the VDR interest group "Restaurator:innen in Ausbildung" will answer questions about studying and offer all interested parties free portfolio advice and retouching exercises.

Participation in the lecture series is free of charge.
