First aid for cultural property: The handbook for effective protection and first aid in the event of damage

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Thu 07. Nov

Short description

Hall 2, Stand M31

Stephanie Dirks and Nadine Thiel provide initial insights into the new “Cultural Property Operations Manual”, which the Association of Conservators will publish as an e-book on 20.11.2024.

Description

Cultural assets such as paintings, photographs, ceramics, textiles or plastics are extremely sensitive and can be severely damaged by fire, flooding or other influences. In order to be able to react quickly and effectively in such emergencies, the new “Cultural Property Operations Manual” provides specific instructions for salvage and initial treatment.

Regardless of the type of damage event, the authors explain the legal framework and provide step-by-step instructions on how to proceed and how to rescue objects made of a wide variety of materials - an indispensable reference work for archives, museums, palace and church administrations, owners, restorers and rescue teams.
