Petra Kroupová

National Heritage Institute (Department of Monuments with International Status )

Vita

My name is Petra Kroupová and I graduated from Masaryk University in Brno (master's degree program in Art history and French language and literature). Since 2015 I have been working in the Department of Cultural Monuments with international status at the General Directorate of the National Heritage Institute in Prague. My agenda covers two UNESCO cultural conventions (the World Heritage Convention and the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its two protocols). My work consists of preparing nomination documentation, monitoring monuments inscribed on the World Heritage List, etc. For example, I am involved in the nomination project of the European paper mills (World Heritage Convention) and the nomination project of Český Krumlov into the List of Enhanced Protection (1954 Hague Convention and its two protocols). As part of my work, I have repeatedly participated in meetings related to the Hague Convention and its protocols at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. I am a member of the interministerial group for the implementation of international humanitarian law, and a member of the working groups for crisis plans and climate change within the National Heritage Institute. At the same time, this year I started studying PhD. Program at the Czech Technical University in Prague (study program Civil Emergency Preparedness). The topic of my dissertation is Preparedness and preparation of crisis plans for cultural monuments in times of peace - fulfilling the challenges of the UNESCO Secretariat.
