denkmal meets... PaX
We raised three questions to Oliver Koch-Kinne, Head of Online Marketing at PaX AG, one of the exhibitors at denkmal 2024. Among other things, Koch-Kinne is responsible for the company's own portal fenster-im-baudenkmal.de. The specialist portal for windows in half-timbered houses, old buildings and monuments bundles the knowledge that building owners, architects and monument conservators need in practice. The idea was born 20 years ago and today the portal is a complete success with development potential.
What was the reason for putting such a portal online? Who is it intended for?
PaX Classic has been organizing the specialist conference “Windows in Listed Buildings” since 1996 and brings together experts from the fields of heritage conservation, architecture and science to share their knowledge on all aspects of heritage conservation. The results of the conference have already been published in book form. Over 20 years ago, this long-standing expertise gave rise to the idea of creating an online portal that makes the accumulated expertise on windows in listed buildings freely accessible. Our aim is to provide building owners, architects and conservationists with sound, practice-oriented knowledge in order to promote the preservation and restoration of listed windows, half-timbered houses and old buildings.
How is the portal being received?
Since its launch in 2019, the portal has enjoyed a steadily growing and dedicated user base and is appreciated by experts and interested parties alike. With more than 100,000 page views per year and around 3,500 followers on Facebook and Instagram, fenster-im-baudenkmal.de has established itself as a leading specialist portal.
What development potential do you see? Are there plans to extend the portal beyond the windows in the listed building?
There are around one million monuments in Germany, 63% of which are architectural monuments - an enormous potential for our portal. Compared to this figure, we realize that we can reach even more people. In order to increase our reach, we are continuously expanding our offering: with new articles, posts, stories and videos. In the long term, it is also conceivable that the portal will be expanded to include other topics relating to the preservation of historic buildings in order to offer even more specialist knowledge and practical information on the restoration and preservation of historic buildings.
